
AMARILLO, Texas --- Two Wayland Baptist golfers finished among the top ten individuals, and the Pioneers as a team placed fifth at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational held at Tascosa Country Club. The WBU men had a three-round total of 885 after shooting rounds of 293, 295 and 297.
Abilene Christian took top team honors with an 859 (295-275-289). Host West Texas A&M was second at 877, and Cameron University finished one stroke back at 878.
Wayland senior Bradley Sinnett moved up three spots in Tuesday's final round to finish fourth, and sophomore Anders Ellingsberg tied for eighth to pace the Pioneers. Sinnett opened on Monday morning with a one-under 70, but added four more strokes to that total in the afternoon round. He wrapped up the tourney with another 70 to finish six strokes behind the leader with at 214.
Ellingsberg posted a 74 on the first 18, followed that up with a 72, and then shot another 74 on Tuesday morning to wrap up the event at 220.
Red-shirt freshman David McMinn wound up in the top 25 after rounds of 74, 75 and 77. He finished in 22nd place with a total of 226 shots.
Darryn Els (75-78-76) and Ryan Connolly (75-74-81) were within a stroke of each other at 229 and 230 respectively. Els finished in a tie for 29th and Connolly tied for 31st.
The Wayland men will complete their fall season on Nov. 1 at River Oaks Golf Club in the OC Fall Invitational.
