EDMOND, Okla. --- The Wayland Baptist men's golf team completed its fall season with a somewhat disappointing 8th place finish at the Oklahoma Christian Intercollegiate Tournament held Monday and Tuesday at River Oaks Golf Club.

Host Oklahoma Christian ran away with the team title with a three-round total of 850.  Grand View University was second at 856 and Oklahoma City was third at 863.  The next four teams were bunched within six strokes of each other.  Fourth place Northwood University tallied 881, while the Pioneers ended up shooting an 887.

The WBU five opened the tourney with a ten-over 294, but took five strokes off that mark on the second 18 to go into the clubhouse Monday evening in seventh place with a score of 583, sandwiched between fellow Sooner Athletic Conference members Rogers State in sixth (579) and Southern Nazarene in eighth (584).

The 304 score turned in on Tuesday morning's final 18 was the highest of the season for the Pioneers who opened their fall campaign with back-to-back tournament titles.

Junior Darren Els was the lone WBU golfer to finish among the top ten.   The transfer from Midland College put together a three-over par 216 (71-73-72) to finish tied for eighth place.

Red-shirt freshman David McMinn was the next Pioneer on the leader board, tied for 20th place with a 220 (73-71-76), and senior Bradley Sinnett tied for 27th at 222 (74-71-77).

Anders Ellingsberg (76-74-79 - 229) and Ryan Connolly (77-75-79 – 231) also competed for Wayland.
