Junior All-American Kirby Dunn
Junior All-American Kirby Dunn

Wayland Baptist track and field star Kirby Dunn has been named a 2009 Daktronics/NAIA Scholar Athlete. A 2009 NAIA All-American in both the indoor 1000-meters and the outdoor 800-meters, Dunn is a junior from Bowie, Tex.

He is the school record holder in the indoor 1000-meters and also holds the Pioneer record in the outdoor Mile.

Dunn, a member of the 2008 Daktronics/NAIA Cross Country Scholar Athlete team as well, he has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while studying Business Administration.

All-American Scholar Athletes must be nominated by their head coach, be a junior or above in academic standing, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and meet certain statistical criteria.
