Bobby Curtis, a junior third baseman for the Wayland Baptist Pioneers, has been named to 2009 Daktronics/NAIA Scholar Athlete Baseball Team.

A biology major from Allen, Tex., Curtis hit .271 in 36 games for Wayland in 2009 with four doubles and three home runs. He scored 17 runs and knocked in 14. The Pioneers just completed the most successful season in school history with a 43-15 record and advanced to within one game of the school's first NAIA World Series appearance.

All-American Scholar Athletes must be nominated by their head coach, be a junior or above in academic standing, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and meet certain statistical criteria.
