Aurora, Col.---The Wayland men's golf team finished third at the Colorado School of Mines/Regis University Fall Invitational, which had to be shortened to 36-holes due to inclimate weather. The Pioneers fired a 295-298-593 to come up eight strokes in back of second place Colorado School of Mines. Johnson & Wales University took the team title with a 4-over 580.

WBU's Michael Loppnow was the top Pioneer golfer, coming back from a 74 on Monday to shoot one-under 71 during the final round.  Loppnow finished tied for fifth at one-over 145.

Jonathan Elliott led after Monday's opening round of play after firing a tournament-low 69.  The sophomore from South Africa struggled on Tuesday, however, finishing the tournament tied for 13th place with a five-over 149.

Freshman Yohann Vora (75-76 151) tied for 21st place, while Jimmy Lu, a freshman, and junior Zane Crook ended up in a tie for 32nd.  Lu took one stroke off Monday's total of 77 to finish at 9-over 153.  Crook rebounded from a first-round score of 78 to shoot a 75 on the second 18.

The WBU men now take a few months off from competition before picking things back up in the spring.
