Oklahoma City, Okla.---The Pioneer volleyball team extended their win streak to three straight with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-13 three-set victory over Mid-America Christian on Friday evening.
According to WBU coach Jim Giacomazzi, his team didn't play all that well in the first two sets, with errors contributing to the largest majority of MACU points, but the Wayland netters woke up and played in dominating fashion in the third set.
The Pioneers had an attack percentage of .524 in the match's final set with just one error. Sabrina Davis had two kills and Haley Hill served up an ace for three of the first five points of the set. WBU led 8-1 on a Jennifer Wyatt kill and back-to-back aces off the serve of Alissa Mitchell.
Audrey Hemminger registered four of her seven kills in the third set.
For the match, Desiree Luevano had a team-high nine kills on 19 attempts without an error. Wyatt added seven kills and had three blocks, and Anika Voigt handed out 29 assists.
Hill was the defensive leader with a match-high 19 digs.
Giacomazzi's team, which improves to 19-4 overall and 7-3 in the SAC, now travels to Siloam Springs, Ark. where they will look to get some payback on John Brown University. The Golden Eagles (21-9, 5-5) defeated the Pioneers in a close five-set match last month at Hutcherson Center.
