Junior southpaw Calvin Lewis pitched five scoreless innings to help the Pioneer Gold to a 10-2 victory over the Pioneer Blue on Monday evening at Wilder Field. The Gold team now holds a 2-0 advantage in the series, which resumes Wednesday afternoon at 5:00.

Lewis struck out ten batters without issuing a walk and gave up just two hits, a lead-off single to Brian Embery and a ground ball up the middle off the bat of Jacob Hinojosa with two outs in the fifth.

The Gold team did all their damage in the second and sixth innings. Eddie Allen hit a three-run triple and Ryan Mungia, Kevin Hennessey and Russell Daniel each had an RBI single in the second. In the sixth, Marcus Limon knocked in two with a single and then was brought home by Scott Keane's homer to left center.

Freshman Andy Craig hit a two-run shot to left in the top of the seventh to give the Blue team its only runs of the contest.

Sophomore Jobi Sanchez and Brandon Gutierrez pitched an inning each for the Gold. Bo Slaton and Steven Elder were the relievers for the Blue. Elder allowed just one hit and struck out one in the sixth.

Limon and Ben Robbins picked up two hits a piece for the Gold.
