The Wayland volleyball team made quick work of St. Gregory's University on Saturday afternoon winning in three sets, 25-9, 25-9, 25-11. The victory was the 20th of the season for the Pioneers, who are now 20-7 overall and 8-5 in conference play.

Haley Hill led the WBU women with 14 kills and an attack percentage of .478. The junior from San Angelo also had nine digs and one block. Senior Analicia Estrada added seven kills, while Audrey Hemminger and Jennifer Wyatt posted six kills each. Hemminger, a senior from Melrose, NM, had an attack percentage of .600, nailing down six of her 10 kill attempts.

Defensively, junior Staci Wilt had a team-high ten digs. She also recorded 18 assists. Sophomore Alissa Mitchell contributed nine digs and had one service ace. Desiree Luevano led the team with three aces in the match.

As a team, the Pioneers hit .400 in the three-set sweep, a season high, while holding the Cavaliers to a negative hitting percentage (-.138).

WBU Coach Jim Giacomazzi was pleased with his team's performance after a tough four-set loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Friday night.

"This match went as expected. Last night, OBU played very, very well. Fatigue is starting to get to us because of our lack of depth, and we are running out of time to get our timing down. LCU and the playoffs are what we play for, and that's up next. We are going to have to get healthy and get our legs back under us real quick."

The Pioneers host arch-rival Lubbock Christian on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament begins on Friday in Lubbock.
