Five members of the Wayland volleyball team have been named to the 2009 All-Sooner Athletic Conference team. Anika Voigt, Jennifer Wyatt, Kimberli Harger, Desiree Luevano and Audrey Hemminger were recognized during ceremonies on Friday at the SAC Championship Tournament.

A junior setter, Voigt earned 1st team All-SAC honors. The Potsdam, Germany native, who moved up to third in WBU career assists with 1014 this season, averaged 9.05 assists per set. She also recorded a team-high 390 digs, and had 154 kills with a .262 attack percentage, and 34 total blocks. Voigt garnered MVP honors at the Mustang Classic, hosted by Morningside College, and was named conference Player of the Week once during the fall.

Representing Wayland on the All-Conference Second Team were Wyatt and Harger. A middle hitter from Amarillo, Wyatt led the team in with 263 kills and 81 blocks in 2009. The junior was an All-Tournament selection at the Mustang Classic, helping lead the Pioneers to an upset win over #10 Morningside in the championship match.

Harger, who will undergo knee surgery next week after an injury that cost her the final eight games of the season, had a team-high 2.74 kills and 3.56 digs per set this year, and was the team leader in passing with a success percentage of .949. The sophomore outside hitter from Lubbock also contributed 19 service aces and had 33 total blocks.

Luevano and Hemminger were honorable mention selections to the All-SAC team. Luevano, a junior outside hitter from El Paso, produced 215 kills, 375 digs, 18 service aces and 29 total blocks this season.

A senior middle hitter from Melrose, NM, Hemminger finished her Pioneer career with 104 kills and 59 total blocks. She is third in WBU career blocks with 267, and fourth on the all-time list in hitting percentage (.240) and in block assists (205).
