
Shawnee, Okla. --- Sophomore Erika Raymond hit four of her five attempts from the three-point line and finished up with a game-high 18 points to help lead the Flying Queens to a 77-53 win over St. Gregory's University on Saturday afternoon.
In addition, the Plainview High graduate hauled down four rebounds, dished out three assists and had four steals in just over 37 minutes of playing time. Shamon Doss and Megan Coats also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Queens dramatically improved on their shooting performance from Thursday night, hitting 43 percent of their shots from the field, including nearly 54 percent in the second half. The WBU women got 34 points off of 24 SGU turnovers, put in 15 second chance points, and scored eight off transition. They also made good on 22 of their 26 free throw attempts.
Wayland held the Cavaliers to 32 percent from the field, outrebounded the hosts, 41-34, and were credited with 14 steals.
Alex Williams was the game's leading rebounder with eight boards. The sophomore post also scored nine points, had a block and was credited with two steals. Jessica Walker had eight points, passed out three assists and had three steals, and Staci Murphree contributed another eight points and two blocked shots.
The win improved the Queens to 14-9 overall and 9-7 in conference play. They return home next week for games against Southern Nazarene (15-8, 9-6) on Thursday and USAO (4-18, 2-12) on Saturday.
