Erika Raymond scored a career high 24 points in leading the Flying Queens to a 66-53 win over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. A sophomore from Plainview, Raymond hit nine of her 16 field goal attempts, including 4-of-8 from the three-point line, and had three steals.

The victory was the third straight for the 16-9 Wayland women, who are alone in fourth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with a 11-7 conference mark, one game in back of third place Lubbock Christian.

WBU, which never trailed in the game, took a 14-point lead into the lockerroom at the intermission, despite shooting just 39 percent from the field.  The shots fell more often in the second half for the Queens (11-of-21 for 52.4%), but the Lady Drovers made a charge, closing the gap to five on a basket by Charite Lewis with just over four minutes left on the clock.

Raymond answered with a five straight on a three-pointer and then two free throws to put the WBU lead back to double digits.  Alex Williams scored the final four points of the game to give the Queens the 13-point win.

Shamon Doss added nine points and five rebounds for the Wayland women, while Williams, Jessica Walker and Megan Coats put in eight points each.  Williams and Doss shared the rebounding lead with five a piece, and Walker passed out a team-high four assists.

The Queens forced 32 turnovers, but committed 24 of their own.  They lost the battle inside, 36-31, and were outscored 22-16 in the paint, but converted 17 of their 23 free throw attempts, while USAO made just 12 trips to the charity stripe, making good on ten of those attempts.

An important road trip to Rogers State and John Brown is next on the agenda for the WBU women.  The Hillcats are a game and a half behind the Queens in fourth place in the SAC standings.  JBU is in 11th place in the conference, but Siloam Springs, Ark. is always a tough place to play.
