Wayland Baptist University will host its first-ever wrestling event next month. The Panhandle All-Star Freestyle Wrestling Bash is scheduled for Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. The event, which will take place at Hutcherson Center on the WBU campus, will feature all-star wrestlers from Panhandle area high schools.

Athletes from Randall, Caprock, Amarillo High, Boys Ranch, Pampa, River Road, Coronado and Lubbock High Schools will duel against athletes from Tascosa, Palo Duro, Hereford, Dumas, Borger, Bushland, Monterey and Estacado High Schools.

According to WBU Athletic Director Dr. Greg Feris, the university hopes to use the event as an introduction for both Plainview and the Wayland community to the sport of intercollegiate wrestling. The event is free and open to the public.
