DESOTO, Tex. --- Pioneer sophomore Charlotte Guilleux captured her second straight individual title at the 2010 Bluebonnet Classic, hosted by Northwood University at Thorntree Country Club. Guilleux, who won the Mustang Intercollegiate last week in Albuquerque, came from two strokes back to take the winner's trophy. She was tied for second with a four-over par 76 after Monday's first round, and then hit a 78 on Tuesday to finish at 154.
As a team, the Wayland women completed the tournament in fourth place with a 657 (322-335). Redlands Community College took the team title with a two-round score of 625. Top-ranked Oklahoma City was second (327-320- 647) and Southern Nazarene University was third (323-332- 655).
Anye Magombe also had a good showing in back-to-back tournaments. The sophomore finished in a tie for fifth place, four strokes behind Guilleux at 158 (79-79).
Two Pioneer freshman also finished among the top 25. Nathalia Valencia shot a 172 (80-92) and Jennifer Perry wound up the tournament one stroke back with a 173 (87-86). Krisann Earp was the fifth Wayland golfer. The freshman wrapped up the 36-hole tourney with a 189 (96-93).
The #14 Wayland women have the next two weeks off before they travel to Shawnee, Okla. for the Bison Invitational on April 12 and 13. The Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Championship is scheduled for April 26 and 27 at River Oaks Golf Club in Okahoma City.
