ARDMORE, Okla.--- Wayland Baptist sophomore Bradley Sinnett is one stroke off the lead and the Pioneer team sits in fourth place after the first day of competition at the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships.

Oklahoma City University, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, owns an eight-stroke advantage over second place Southern Nazarene University at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club. Defending conference and national champion Oklahoma Christian is third, four strokes behind SNU.

Wayland opened the tournament with an eight-over par 289, and came back in the afternoon round to shoot a two-over 278 for a total of 567.

Sinnett, who is in a tie for second place with OCU's Michael Palmer, logged 24 pars and seven biridies on the way to a five-under total of 135 (70-65). He also eagled on the par-5, 556-yard sixth hole during his second round.

WBU senior Michael Loppnow is currently in 11th place (71-70-141) with teammates Yohann Vora (73-72-145) and Matthew Webb (75-71-146) not far behind. Freshman Jimmy Lu (76-72-148) completes the Pioneer five.

Winds were calm on Monday with 63-degree temperatures on the par-70, 6,586-yard course. The final round begins with a 7:45 a.m. modified shotgun start on Tuesday.
