The Wayland Baptist Flying Queen's basketball team has been named as a NAIA Scholar Team for the second straight year according to information released last week by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Head coach Tory Bryant's squad had an overall grade point average of 3.06 during the 2009-10 school year.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average must include all varsity athletes certified as eligible.

A record total of 857 teams across the nation, including 78 women's basketball teams, received the award.
