The Wayland Baptist volleyball team wrapped up the 2010 Coca-Cola Classic with an unblemished 3-0 record, defeating York College 25-13, 25-17, 25-12 on Saturday afternoon.

Two Pioneers were named to the All-Tournament team. Kate Trejos, a junior from Bogota, Columbia, and Desiree Luevano, a senior from El Paso, both had outstanding showings over the three-day event.

Trejos posted her second straight double-double against the Panthers with 14 kills and 12 digs. The transfer from Pratt Community College had just one hitting error in the victory, and served up one service ace.

Luevano was credited with nine kills, Jennifer Wyatt had eight, and Tatiana Gonzalez recorded seven kills.

Senior setter Anika Voigt picked up her first double-double of the season with 39 assists and a match-high 20 digs.

WBU coach Jim Giacomazzi was pleased with his team's overall performance in the classic, and hopes they can maintain the momentum going into next week's Labor Day Tournament in Florida where they face three ranked opponents.

"We played well, particularly in the first two matches. Today we got a little bit sloppy and we'll have to eliminate those mistakes before next weekend."

Saturday's contest against York was the only time in the three classic matches that the WBU netters were held to a hitting percentage less than .300 and that was .296. The Pioneers also doubled their service errors in the match. Wayland servers were off target eight times against the Panthers, after having committed just seven in the two previous games.

In other tournament matches on Saturday, Lubbock Christian defeated York College in three sets (25-8, 25-13, 25-10), Olivet Nazarene swept Embry-Riddle (25-11, 25-18, 25-18) and LCU concluded the day with a three-set victory over ERAU (25-13, 25-19, 25-8).

Other All-Tournament team selections were Tara Schmidt and Molly Goldbach of ONU, Jordan Goings of LCU, Mahlet Lee of ERAU, and Hilary Mekelburg and Chelsey Quigley of York.
