The New York Mets have promoted former Wayland Baptist pitcher Todd Weldon to the Class A Short-Season Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Penn League.
Weldon, who had six saves and a 1-3 record for the Kingsport Mets in the Appalachian Rookie League, pitched two innings for the Cyclones on Wednesday, the first day with his new team.
The 6'4, 215 pound righthander surrendered an unearned run on one hit and struck out one. The Cyclones are currently in first place in their division, and have five games remaining on their regular season schedule.
