


The 2009 baseball season will be the 14th for Coach Brad Bass as head of the Pioneer baseball program. He has won over 600 games during his 24 year collegiate coaching career, including nearly 400 at Wayland where the Pioneers compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference, arguably the toughest small college conference in the nation.
A 1984 graduate of Hardin Simmons University where he was a member of the Cowboy's baseball team, Coach Bass experienced his best season at Wayland in 2008 when the Pioneers finished 43-16-1 and were ranked 13th in the final NAIA Top 25 poll.
He began his college playing career at Ranger Junior College. While at Ranger he played on a team that won the 1978 Junior College World Series. From Ranger Junior College Coach Bass went on to play two years at HSU, then served as an assistant coach for 5 years. Before coming to Wayland Baptist, Coach Bass was the head baseball coach at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth.
A graduate of Connally High School in Waco, Coach Bass and his wife Sally, have three children: Calvin, 19; Meredith, 18; and Will, 14.

Coach Josh Milner is in his fifth year as the Pioneer's assistant coach. A native of Phoenix, AZ, he played two years for the Pioneers after transferring from Glendale Community College in 2002. As the WBU catcher, he helped lead the team to its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Region VI Championship Tournament in 2003.
An '03 graduate of WBU who is currently working on a master's degree in Management, Coach Milner spent the summer of 2006 as head coach of the Orlando Hammers, an Athletes in Action sponsored team in the Florida Collegiate Summer League.
Coach Milner and his wife, Melissa, who is also a Wayland graduate, are the parents of a daughter, Ryann, who is a year and a half; and a newborn son, Travis.

Coach Brandon Henegar is in his third year as the Pioneer pitching coach. A 2001 graduate of Wayland, he pitched four seasons for Coach Bass and the Pioneers, setting numerous career records. He spent the summer of 2008 as pitching coach of the Bolivar A's, an Athletes in Action sponsored team in the New York Collegiate League.
Following graduation, Coach Henegar spent one year in the private sector before becoming pitching coach for the Plainview High School varsity baseball team, a title he held for four years. He is now a physical education teacher at LaMesa Elementary. He and his wife, Karla, a teacher and head volleyball coach at PHS, have a son, Kyler who is 4.

Coach Jeremiah Saiz is no stranger to WBU baseball. A 2000 graduate of Wayland, he spent four years as a member of the Pioneer outfield from 1996-1999. He joined Coach Bass's staff three years ago, serving as the outfielder's coach and as head junior varsity coach.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Coach Saiz spent three years as a teacher and coach at Coronado Junior High School in Plainview. In addition, he served as an assistant coach for the Plainview High School varsity baseball team. Currently Coach Saiz is a graduate student in Organizational Management, and is Resident Hall Supervisor of McDonald Hall.

A long-time supporter of Wayland baseball, Coach McMillan joined the Pioneer coaching staff two years ago as coach of the WBU infielders. A native of Plainview, he is a 1976 graduate of Texas Tech University where he spent three seasons as a member of the Red Raider baseball team.
Coach McMillan has been a part of the Plainview Noon Optimist's Summer Baseball Program almost continuously as a player, coach, umpire, baseball committee member, league representative, and tournament official since 1969, and was inducted into the Southwest Regional Babe Ruth Hall of Fame in 2004.
An original member and chairman of the Going the Distance Committee, which was the driving force behind the development of Wilder Field, Coach McMillan has also served as a coach for the WBU Summer Collegiate Baseball League since it's inception three years ago. Coach McMillan and his wife, Susan, have a daughter, Lori, and her husband, James; a son, Chance, and his wife, Kelsey; and are the proud grandparents of two granddaughters, Rileigh and Madeline Johnston; and a grandson, Grayson McMillan.
