A 3rd team NAIA All-American last year for the Flying Queens, Rose Ouma was the 2008-09 Sooner Athletic Conference Co-Newcomer of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year. She was second in the nation in steals per game (4.4) and led the Wayland women in scoring (14.9) and rebounding (8.5).

Ouma, a native of Eldoret, Kenya, transferred to Wayland after two years at Lewis & Clark Community College where she earned NJCAA 2nd team All-American honors.

Joe Adams was promoted to assistant coach for the 2008-09 season, after spending his first year as a student assistant for the Flying Queens.

Coach Adams, who served as head 8th grade coach and assistant varsity under Coach Bryant at Trinity Christian High School, is a native of Petersburg, Tex. He attended Petersburg High School and was a four-year letterman in football, basketball and track. An All-District, All-Region and All-State basketball honoree his senior year, he played at WBU following his high school graduation, and then went on to coach at South Plains College.

Coach Adams and his wife, Stacy, have an eight-year-old daughter named Arielle.

Temeckia Brown joined the Flying Queens staff for the 2008-09 season after spending the past few years as assistant varsity coach at Grapevine Faith Christian High School.

A graduate of Kempner High School in Sugarland, Tex., Coach Brown played collegiately at Blinn Junior College and the University of Texas-Arlington. She was an honorable mention All-American at Blinn and a two-time 1st team All-Conference selection. She left the school ranked 15th in career scoring and 17th in rebounding.

While at UTA, Coach Brown was a part of the first-ever Lady Maverick's team to make an appearance in the Southland Conference Championship game.

Tory Bryant led the Flying Queens to a berth in the NAIA Championship Tournament in 2008-09, his second season as head coach of the WBU women's basketball program.

In his two years at the helm of the Queens, Bryant's teams have shown steady improvement. The 2007-08 Flying Queens posted a 15-17 record, the best in three years at Wayland. This past season, the WBU women went 22-12 overall and were 14-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. They reached the semi-final round of the SAC Tournament where they lost by three to conference regular season champion Oklahoma Baptist.

Four WBU women garnered post-season awards in 2008-09, including Rose Ouma, who was named a 3rd team NAIA All-American and was SAC Defensive Player of the Year and Co-Newcomer of the Year.

As a high school coach at Trinity Christian High School, Coach Bryant compiled a 96-19 record and won two TAPPS Class 4A State Championships. He was named the 2005-06 TAPPS District 1-4A Coach of the Year and the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's All-City Coach of the Year. The 2006-07 Lady Lions were 31-8 and advanced to the TAPPS Class 5A State title game.

Prior to his time in Lubbock, Coach Bryant served as assistant women's basketball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington from July 2001 to July 2004. He was the Lady Maverick's recruiting coordinator and managed the year round strength and conditioning program.

A Plainview native and a 1994 graduate of Plainview High School, Coach Bryant was a member of the 1994 Class 5A State Championship basketball team coached by the legendary Carl Irlbeck. He went on to play collegiate basketball at Sul Ross State University for two seasons, before transferring to Texas Tech, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Exercise Sports and Science in 1999.

Coach Bryant was a student assistant and head junior varsity coach at Lubbock Christian University from 1998-1999, and then moved on to West Texas A&M University. A graduate assistant for the Lady Buffs basketball team for two years where he served as recruiting coordinator and was in charge of scouting and tournament and pre-conference scheduling, Bryant received his Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in August of 2001 from WTA&MU.

Coach Bryant and his wife, Lee, have one daughter, Devyn.

Amy Tiller won a Class 1A State Championship and was on a state runner-up team playing at Sudan High School.   A 2009 All-District honoree, Coach Tiller was a four-time Academic All-District selection for Head Coach Jason Cooper, a former Pioneer basketball player and NAIA Scholar Athlete.

She was a regional qualifier in tennis three years, and finished 15th at the 2009 Region I Golf Championships.
