
In his four seasons at the helm of the Flying Queens basketball program, Tory Bryant has a 70-56 overall record, and led the Flying Queens to a berth in the NAIA Championship Tournament in 2008-09.
Since he took over prior to the 2007-08 season, Bryant's teams have shown steady improvement. The Flying Queens posted a 15-17 record in his first year, the best in three years at Wayland. During the 2008-09 season, the WBU women went 22-12 overall and were 14-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. They reached the semi-final round of the SAC Tournament where they lost by three to conference regular season champion Oklahoma Baptist.
Four WBU women garnered post-season awards in 2008-09, including Rose Ouma, who was named a 3rd team NAIA All-American and was SAC Defensive Player of the Year and Co-Newcomer of the Year.
The 2009-10 Queens went 17-13 and five of those wins were over opponents ranked in the NAIA Top 25. Four players were named to the All-Conference squad, two others were named Academic All-Conference, and one, sophomore Erika Raymond, was selected as a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. The Queens were also honored by the NAIA as a Scholar Team for the second straight season.
Last year, a young Flying Queens team dropped to 16-14, but Raymond repeated as an All-Conference selection and earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors as well. In addition four Wayland women were named to the SAC's All-Academic team, and Bryant's squad earned NAIA Scholar Team recognition for the third straight season.
As a high school coach at Trinity Christian High School, Coach Bryant compiled a 96-19 record and won two TAPPS Class 4A State Championships. He was named the 2005-06 TAPPS District 1-4A Coach of the Year and the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's All-City Coach of the Year. The 2006-07 Lady Lions were 31-8 and advanced to the TAPPS Class 5A State title game.
Prior to his time in Lubbock, Coach Bryant served as assistant women's basketball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington from July 2001 to July 2004. He was the Lady Maverick's recruiting coordinator and managed the year round strength and conditioning program.
A Plainview native and a 1994 graduate of Plainview High School, Coach Bryant was a member of the 1994 Class 5A State Championship basketball team coached by the legendary Carl Irlbeck. He went on to play collegiate basketball at Sul Ross State University for two seasons, before transferring to Texas Tech, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Exercise Sports and Science in 1999.
Coach Bryant was a student assistant and head junior varsity coach at Lubbock Christian University from 1998-1999, and then moved on to West Texas A&M University. A graduate assistant for the Lady Buffs basketball team for two years where he served as recruiting coordinator and was in charge of scouting and tournament and pre-conference scheduling, Bryant received his Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in August of 2001 from WTA&MU.
Coach Bryant and his wife, Lee, have one daughter, Devyn, and a new son, Zeke.

Flying Queens head coach Tory Bryant has announced the addition of Michael Huxen to his coaching staff. A former graduate assistant for the women's basketball program at Tarleton State University, Huxen will join the Queens immediately as a full-time assistant.
"Michael brings good experience from his time at Tarleton," said Bryant. "He was involved in many aspects of their basketball program: recruiting, scouting, on the floor coaching, individual workouts, camp, etc. He is a quality young coach with good communication skills, character and integrity. He has a great work ethic and is very articulate. These are all qualities that we look for in our assistants."
Coach Huxen is a native of Stephenville and obtained both his bachelor and master's degrees at TSU. He attended Stephenville High School where he was a first team All-District selection in basketball his final two seasons. He also lettered in soccer, baseball and cross country.

Joe Adams was promoted to assistant coach for the 2008-09 season, after spending his first year as a student assistant for the Flying Queens.
Coach Adams, who served as head 8th grade coach and assistant varsity under Coach Bryant at Trinity Christian High School, is a native of Petersburg, Tex. He attended Petersburg High School and was a four-year letterman in football, basketball and track. An All-District, All-Region and All-State basketball honoree his senior year, he played at WBU following his high school graduation, and then went on to coach at South Plains College.
Coach Adams and his wife, Stacy, have a nine-year-old daughter named Arielle.

Precious Ivy earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors at San Jacinto College where she led the team in assists for two years. A back injury forced the Cedar Hill, Texas native to make the move out of playing and into coaching.
A four-year starter at Cedar Hill High School, Ivy spent three seasons as an assistant at San Jacinto while completing her education at the University of Houston. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology-Wellness and Fitness from UH in 2011.
