[Women's Golf] Pioneer Women Advance to Final Round

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – The goal of the Wayland Baptist women's golf team going into Thursday's third round of play at the 2012 NAIA Championship Tournament was to finish the day among the top ten on the leaderboard. The Pioneers didn't quite make it over the hump as they wrapped up the round shooting a 320 and remain in 12th place. The good news, however, is that the WBU quintet get to advance to Friday's final round, and are just three strokes out of the top ten with a total of 943.

GREENVILLE, Tenn. — The Wayland Baptist women fell back in the standings after shooting a 319 on the second round of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship on Wednesday. The Pioneers dropped seven spots into 12th place with a total of 623 after the first two days of competition at the Link Hills Golf and Country Club.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. –Senior Ayne Magombe and freshman Morgan Matchett each shot an even-par 73 in the opening round of the 18th Annual NAIA Women's Golf Championship to lead the Wayland Baptist women to a fifth-place spot after the first day of competition. The Pioneers posted a team total of 304 (+12) on the day and currently sit just six shots behind the leader, Shorter University.

Flying Queens head coach Tory Bryant is announcing the addition of five new players to his 2012-13 roster. Bryant recently received the signatures of two junior college transfers and three area high school standouts to letters of intent to join the Flying Queens.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the qualifiers for the 2012 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships and for the ninth time in the last ten years, the Wayland Baptist Pioneers made the field. LUBBOCK, Texas --- The men and women of the Pioneer track teams are spending these final few weeks before the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships fine-tuning their performances. On Saturday evening at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open, one WBU individual athlete and a relay team turned in a new automatic qualifying mark, while three other individuals and both sprint relays improved upon previous qualifying performances.
