Chickasha, Okla. --- The seniors came through for the Pioneers in their Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader split against USAO on Friday. In the opener, rightfielder Pedro Gomez had two home runs and all four RBI in an 8-4 loss, and in the nightcap, second baseman Michael Prell knocked in the winning run with a single to center in the top of the seventh to give Wayland the 4-3 victory.

The Pioneers wasted a nice day on Homecoming Saturday at Wayland, getting blown out in the final contest of their three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series with Northwestern Oklahoma State, 14-5. The loss drops WBU to 11-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

WBU's Pedro Gomez hit a two-run bloop single to right field with one out in the bottom of the seventh-inning to give the Pioneers a 13-12 Sooner Athletic Conference victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State. The win salvaged a split in the Friday doubleheader at Wilder Field with the Rangers taking game one 6-3.

The #14 Pioneer baseball team opens Sooner Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at home against Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Senior Todd Weldon, who leads the NAIA in wins with four, will take to the mound first for WBU.
