
Three Pioneer basketball players have received 2009-10 Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition and one other, sophomore Joao "Johnny" Terra earned Academic All-Conference honors, according to information released by the conference office on Monday evening.

The Wayland Baptist Pioneers concluded the 2009-10 basketball season with a heart-breaking 61-60 loss to Mid-America Christian University on Saturday afternoon at Hutcherson Center.
MACU's Cameron Langster grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back in with .6 seconds on the clock after Wayland sophomore Bobby Watkins hit a basket in the paint with 10 seconds remaining to give the Pioneers the lead.

Playing for nothing but pride, the Wayland Pioneers came from behind to defeat #14 Oklahoma City University 73-69 on Thursday evening at Hutcherson Center. A three-pointer by senior Jason Griffin tied the score for the first time, 34 minutes into the game, and another Griffin trey with 2:38 left in the game put the Pioneers on top for the first time in the contest.

As the final basketball season of the decade wraps up, the Wayland Baptist University Athletic Department has put together a Men's and Women's Basketball Team of the Decade. The squads will be recognized between Thursday's basketball games against Oklahoma City University.
