Two non-competitive cheer and dance teams are to be added to the WBU Spirit Teams beginning with the 2012-13 school year.   

"The new teams are designed for cheerleaders and dancers that enjoy performing at athletic events," said Kristen Jones, coach of the WBU Cheer and Dance Teams.  "The non-competitive cheer and dance teams will be all about spirit."

The Wayland Baptist Cheer Team will hold tryouts for the Spring 2012 semester on Saturday, January 7, 2012. 

Scholarships are available and video tryouts will be accepted, as well.  Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Laney Center on the WBU campus.  Contact Coach Kristen Jones at 806-291-3850 or by email at jonesk@wbu.edu for more information.

The Wayland Baptist University Spirit Teams are hosting Cheer & Dance Clinics for students, grades K-12th on Saturday, November 5 from 9 am to 2 pm.  Spirit Team members will teach cheer or dance basics, and an entire routine to be performed at the Flying Queen's basketball game at 4 pm the day of the clinic.

Tryout videos are being accepted through July 1 for the Wayland Baptist Cheer and Dance Teams. Scholarships are still available for both teams. Contact Coach Kristen Jones at 806-291-3850 before submitting a video.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- The Wayland Dance Team advanced to tomorrow's final round of competition at the 2011 National Dance Alliance Collegiate Finals after placing fifth in this morning's preliminary round.
